About the Author
As a young girl growing up in a small town in northeast Iowa, I spent many hours in the library, and far more in my room, reading everything from Nancy Drew to Tora! Tora! Tora!. Years later, when my daughter started preschool, I wrote a little book for her, hand-printed and painted on wallpaper! It took me a long time to realize that God had given me a creative mind and a very determined spirit. In early 2022 my mother, age 96 at the time, asked me to write a children’s book about an experience she had with one of her many great- grandchildren, I accepted the assignment with pleasure! Grammie’s Funny Hat is that story.
My goal as a children’s book author is to produce stories that spark imaginations, tickle fancies, or challenge the minds of children everywhere. Books are food for the mind. As an author, I want to feed the minds of children in hopes that one day they discover their own individual greatness.
I still live in a small town, now Urich, Missouri. My husband and I enjoy fishing, camping, metal detecting, and simply being outdoors. We have five grown children, eight grandchildren, one son-in-law and two daughters-in-law, and two dogs. I travel as often as I can to visit family and friends around the country. My faith inspires and energizes me - I thank God daily for my family, my friends, and for the many ways he continually blesses my life.
My mind is constantly developing more ideas for children’s books. I am currently working on the third in a junior detective series. Children will grow up with this character and her adventures from Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Also, the second Grammie story is in the illustrative process, and I have thoughts on several other educational picture books. I look forward to what's ahead - and I hope you do too!
